Week 3!

Howdy Everyone!

I hope you all had a great week, and that the challenge is getting a little bit easier for everyone. Also I hope you all are enjoying the benefits of these new healthy lifestyle changes. I know that I sure am. It's really nice to be able to go to social events and say no to certain foods that I know will make me feel sick later on.

So I'm sure everyone is curious on what the standings are for the first two weeks, so here they are!

If you are not in any of these rankings don't worry, there is still a lot time. It is still very early on in the competition, and if you can be consistent in getting your points you can keep yourself in the running to win!

So this week this is what I would like you to post.

1. Your first name and last initial with your total points earned from the challenge itself--up to 208 for this week.


2. How much weight you have lost. If you stayed the same or put on weight just put 0. (make sure you weigh yourself tonight, to find out how much you lost from last Sunday night)

3. Are you feeling any different than you did at the start of the challenge?  How?

4. What is one your favorite healthy foods you like to eat? (I'm looking for some new suggestions, as is everyone else I'm sure)


And as always, here is the point structure in case anyone forgot!

3 points--64 oz. of water (21)
3 points--no eating after 8:30 pm (21)
3 points--2 servings of fruit (21)
5 points--3 servings of vegetables (35)
5 points--No sweets/treats, expect you can have 3 servings of some kind of treat through the week. (last time we did this we had one cheat day, and we found that we would usually pig out on that day, so we feel three "cheat" servings will be help us not get carried away) (35)
5 points--Keeping a food log (35)
5 points--30 minutes of exercise (five days possible--25)

7 points--45 minutes of exercise (five days possible--35)
5 points—weighing in every Sunday night and posting how much you lost on the blog by Monday morning at 10 AM. (5)

    3. I definitely feel a lot different! I'm much more hydrated, which makes exercising much easier and enjoyable. I don't feel as sluggish anymore. I don't overeat as much, which makes me feel refreshed throughout the day. I've even noticed that when I eat my 3 "treat" I don't enjoy them as much I think I'm going to. Overall I'm loving the way I feel!

    4. My wife makes a mean turkey/veggie meatloaf, and it is so good and very healthy. I usually don't like meatloaf, but this one is awesome! If anyone want the recipe let me know!

    I feel empowered, doctor says its due to a high Midi-chlorian count.

    I usually down a glass and a half of a spinach and fruit smoothie daily. I also like dipping celery in salsa.

    I feel so much lighter, it's getting easier to exercise everyday.
    I have been doing a lot of smoothies and juices for both breakfast and dinner, I feel that this is also helping me change my lifestyle.

    I didn't do as well this week, I got fast food way too much and it's crazy how in one week it makes such a difference
    I love making food with hidden veggies in it so I don't feel like I am eating vegetables even though I am. I hide veggeis in my meatloaf and my smoothies!

    My wife and I have a list of all types of smoothies we go through each day and each of them have at least 1-2 servings of vegetables and fruits. Delicious!

    Crossfit made me sore....so I was kind of a wimp the rest of the week. This will be a good week. Try and catch me Tyler.
    I enjoy almonds and spinach salad. Veggie burgers are great too.

    fry up some mushrooms spinach tomatoes and wither chicken/turkey with red wine vinegar, i also like a bowl of edamame super healthy and a nice little snack

    Eating healthier definitely helps me to realize how yucky my body feels when I eat non healthy food.
    My weekly bountiful basket has helped me be creative.

    Last week was the toughest. Now that I'm injured I feel i need to work extra hard .Water, Fruit and vegetables are still the toughest for me. I think im going to buy a 64 oz.

    I'm feeling a lot different. My big belly seems to be getting a little smaller. My jeans are a tiny bit looser and I just feel good at night rather than crappy after eating another late meal I didn't need. One of my favorite things I've been eating is grilled chicken breast with some lemon pepper seasoning on it. It's like candy to me and I can't get enough!

    Feeling like my body functions more better, less stomach issues. I don't love exercise, but it is getting easier.
    I have lots of good healthy recipes but my favorite this week was stuffed mushroom caps.

    3. I have more energy and am beginning to notice how crappy I feel on the days I don't exercise, which is good motivation to make time for it.

    2. Chocolate Kale Smoothie

      16 oz almond milk
      ¾ cup frozen blueberries
      2 bananas, peeled and frozen
      1 T. honey
      ¼ t. vanilla extract
      1 ½ T. soy protein powder (optional)
      1 T. unsweetened cocoa, sifted
      1 ½ cups fresh kale, washed and torn into large pieces

      Combine all ingredients in blender and process until smooth. Serves 2-3.

      I use (2-3 cups) baby kale because the flavor is more mild (plus costco sells a big bag of organic for around $4). I also use a full cup of blueberries, add 2 tablespoons of chia seeds and leave out the protein powder. It's good stuff :) Let me know if you guys try it!

    I too feel like soda and other sweets just aren't as nice as they use to be and I end up feeling sick.
    Still stickin with my baby carrots...and side of zuchini at red lobster;)

    3. I feel better. But I am still craving sugar, but I crave healthy foods too so that's good. I have noticed healthier looking skin because of all the water intake so I'm loving that.
    4. Healthy foods I am loving are apples with peanut butter, kale salads, air popped popcorn with a little salt (no butter), strawberry Banana protein shakes. Hummus and carrots, watermelon, Greek yogurt with granola.

    the hardest part was trying to figure out how to exercise when i wasnt able to. The exercise that i find more enjoyable was a bit harder to do. I had to alternate. Stay in doors and not eat junk food. not eating after 8.30p has helped. when i wake up in the middle of the night instead of snaking when i look in the fridge. i grab some water and put lemon juice in it. stretching has also been helpful as i didnt like to stretch. hardest part still veggies and fruit. ive had veggies but not enough everyday to be given a point
